[Sabo hasn't seen eye to eye with Ace on that level.. or rather, he never wonders what Ace was thinking when he mentioned he was his companion. In his case.. he did think of him as more than just brethren.. someone he can share his closest memories with, but he doesn't ask if Ace interpeted it as anything different. Perhaps.. like owner and his dog.
With how he is regardless, Sabo enjoys every little moment he does share with the young wolf. He hasn't asked about his clan (besides the little brother), nor asks anything in regards to how he lives. He just knows that he resides in the forest and that he lives off whatever he could hunt for. The knowledge of magic seems well known in his clan as he's been told, and he's thankful Ace could help out every moment he can. ]

[Sabo laughs as he gets tickle tongued by the other. His joyous smile as the alpha nuzzles up to his companion shines through, holding his hands around Ace's neck as the wolf does so.]

[As the apple in the air distracts him, it lands on one of his palms and he tosses the apple right at the raven haired werewolf, giving a clever grin.]
Fetch, little wolf. [A snicker and a smile from the blond, holding his hand up above his forehead with his eyes closed. Hopefully you can catch this one, Ace.]
[Of course, Ace doesn't know exactly what Sabo's thinking, though he hoped calling him his companion showed the blonde just how much the werewolf thought of him. He wouldn't call any other human, with magic or not, his companion. It meant something different to him, though it wasn't like they were dating or anything yet. But it was worth thinking that he did have a love for Sabo in a different way than his love for Luffy. That much should be obvious.
His clan had joked with him that Sabo was his owner, which is the reason why he's very happy that Sabo doesn't ask about them. They're all as crazy as Luffy and his friends. Though Ace does still think highly of them, of course.
But for now... Ace frowns at Sabo's nickname.]

[He yells this before he morphs back into a wolf. Ace then runs to catch the apple swiftly, with his mouth, showing it to Sabo proudly as he sits and wags his tail. After a moment, he shifts back to his half-human state and bites into the apple as his half-hand half-paw holds it, grinning slyly at the blonde as he waves his prize in the air.]

He holds his fist to his mouth, failing to hide his amusement. He observes the werewolf closely as the apple is caught by him. When he's given the smirk and the consumption of the apple, he could only devilishly grin back.]
You're silly. [He walks over closer to the half human and bites into the apple Ace was biting into and chews the part he bit into. He then holds his companion's hands with his own, looking down at the other's chest affectionately.]
You're by yourself tonight, right? [His voice is a bit softer than usual as he says this. He has had a moment to think a bit about what else he wanted to do to take the stress. Well.. besides playing with the werewolf.]
[This time he only holds his serious look for a few seconds before chuckling himself. His tail wagging might have given it away that he was feeling happy. Taking another bite of his apple, Ace smirks at Sabo, about to say something in response.
But once he also bites into the apple that Ace was currently biting into himself, Ace stares at him in bewilderment, nearly dropping his treat. If it weren't for Sabo holding his hands, he would have had a dirt-filled apple... He stares at their hands touching each other's for a moment before looking up to see Sabo staring at something-- Was he staring at Ace's chest!? It's taking all he can to not just make out with the warlock right on the spot; he really wants to kiss him now. Ace blushes a bit, but not before grinning slyly.]

[He puffs out his chest while still allowing Sabo to hold onto his hands, one still holding onto the apple, of course. When Sabo asks his question, Ace tilts his head a bit, his voice also a bit softer than usual. He's still not sure what to think about all this, mainly because he's pretty sure Sabo doesn't think of him the way he thinks of Sabo. Oh, how wrong you are, Ace.]

[Ace just stares at Sabo after the small kisses on his forehead and cheek. He feels like his chest is about to burst by just these two kisses, and he blushes almost more. Plus, when Sabo faintly blushes, he can't help but think of him as cute...
But then he says the words Ace wanted to hear the most. Ace stares into Sabo's eyes with wide ones of his own. He's beginning to love the touch of Sabo's thumb on his lips, the hand on his chest. They hadn't been this intimate before, so it's something new to Ace.
He tries to say something in response, but he can't think of anything right now.
So he just lets his body do the talking for him.
Ace pushes, albeit more gently than he was expecting, Sabo down while one hand was on the back of his head to cushion it from the ground. All too quickly, Ace is already laying on top of him, kissing Sabo's lips, desperate for his touch, desperate for more. He even starts to kiss at Sabo's jaw, then licks the scar around his left eye.
But then he abruptly stops himself and pushes himself up off of the ground, hovering over the blonde. Why did he do that??? What did he just do?????? Oh my god oh my god what's Sabo even going to say.
There's a long pause before he tears his eyes away from Sabo's.]
M'sorry.
[There's another pause before Ace just buries his face into Sabo's shirt, clutching to his arms. His voice is small and soft when he finally speaks.]
I... love you, too. I really do.
[He takes a shaky breath.]
I thought you always meant as... a brother. Or loyal companion.
[He looks up now, his chin resting on Sabo's chest. He's still not making eye contact and his face is still bright red, but... He continues, his voice the same as before.]
Not-- Not like I meant it as. I always... always meant it this way.
[Then he just kind of pouts and looks at Sabo, finally, before burying his face in Sabo's chest again.]

Even if gentle, he is rather startled at these turn of events, turning a bit pink at the werewolf when he lands on the ground. At the same time... he enjoys every minute of it. He chuckles, touched by the kissing of his jaw and the licking around the left side of his face and could only blush more at the thought before he hears the apology.]
I... it's okay. It's really okay, Ace. [He is shocked for a few minutes himself before he shakes his head, still complacent of their situation. His words.. while a bit surprised and a little hurt Ace thought that, only mended when he said the last few words. What his feelings toward the warlock were. That was enough for him to be a little emotional himself.]
I'm touched.. and I didn't even know you'd think that I'd feel like that. [He wraps his arms around the werewolf, and puts his head against Ace's shoulder.] I really mean it. When I said 'companion', I meant something more than just friendship, more than brotherhood.
[His tears come out, sniffling a little at the werewolf.] I'm amazed you didn't say anything earlier. [His voice almost cracking at the thought, he laughs a little trying to break the emotions between the two.]
I'm sorry myself. ...Ace, you. [He rubs his face against Ace's, and kisses his neck.] You're someone special to me. I'll remind you every time-- every day if I have to.
[Ace kept his face buried into Sabo's chest as he listens to him speak, just trying to hide the redness of his face. He looks up, finally, when the blonde tells Ace that it's okay, staring into his eyes before pushing himself off the ground to hover above Sabo again. He's about to ask if he's sure, but Sabo speaks again and hugs him, which surprises the werewolf slightly.
Ace settles his knees on either side of the warlock and holds him, as well, moving one hand up to stroke those blonde locks. When he speaks again, his voice cracks.]
Sorry... I'm-- [He takes a shaky breath.] I'm glad to know now, at least.
[But then he feels tears on his shoulder, which makes him hold the warlock closer to him, despite the increase of his heartbeat. He swallows when Sabo continues speaking.]

He nuzzles Sabo back before he kisses Ace's neck, but once he does so, and also tells him how much he loves Ace, said werewolf goes wide-eyed and stares at Sabo for a few moments. Now it's Ace's turn to tear up a bit, burying his face in Sabo's shoulder. The next words he says he chokes out in barely a whisper.]

[There's a small pause before he speaks a little louder, though he doesn't move his face from the other's shoulder. His face is beet red and even his ears reflect that now.]
You're very special to me, too, Sabo. I love you, too.
[He sits like that for several more moments in silence before lifting his head up and kissing the warlock softly on the lips, eyes falling shut as he locks his lips with Sabo's.]
